naut-cotic First Steps
Using the web site
The comic reads like a conventional Western style comic; left to right and top to bottom. The pages are displayed in a vertical ascending arrangement. To progress to the next page, simply click on 'View next page'.
Each comic page has an additional display known as the 'companion view'. Clicking on the page with your mouse (or by using the keyboard shortcut, see next section) will toggle between viewing the comic full-size and the companion view. The companion displays information specific to that page including:
- Chapter and page number.
- The date the page was originally published.
- Page transcript.
- Additional notes and comments by the author.
- Links to related articles in the naut-cotic guide.
For those people that prefer a more hands-on approach, the comic can be navigated by using your keyboard. The key maps are outlined below:

* Sorry, keyboard navigation does not currently work in the Opera web browser.

The naut-cotic website loads data from the internet in a different way than traditional websites, data is loaded without the need of loading a new web page. This may mean that loading progress won't be indicated by the normal loading indictors on your web browser. To compensate, the website notifies when it's loading by animating the naut-cotic title in the top-left.
The large moon indicates required loading, such as switching to a different area of the website. Please wait for it to finish.
The small moon indicates pre-loading or background loading. When you are viewing a comic page, the website will automatically begin downloading the next page; so when you request the next page it will appear straight away. So if you have a fast internet connection (or are a slow reader) you will be able to view the comic seemingly without interruption.
